Refracted Reality

Can you see how cold it is?
An icy gaze grazing across the surface
Of the iron mask
That welds itself onto my face.
And the last thing I want to do
Is to have to take it off
And risk exposing myself
To the stark reality and truths.

It’s like looking at a half full glass of water
A distorted reality imaged, and covered by
a hazy magnification of imperfection,
polished perfectly.
Through the looking-glass everything looks
different.

I might smile sweetly and look
unforgivingly caring
But in the refracted reality
I can see the crazy joker’s smile
Bloodied red lips grimaced in
a thin unforgiving ironic smile.

Dark eyes might look like a
welcoming abyss
But in the refracted reality
Black wolfish pupils hold dark secrets
Coldly calculating massacres within.

Loving lust lips leave
sweet messages hanging in the air
from poisonous lips
But….

What do you think?
