Little Promises

If you break the little promises

Then you will break the big ones

You need to start over if the occasion arises

Then surely you shall have what your heart longs,

For in the quiet dark, you can see all

Each to his own, and escape the fall.

A bitter chill gives an edge to the forgotten promises

The black raven birds dart across the sky in ones

Nightmares try and clutch at you before life rises

It seems futile to escape the siren’s songs

In that siren’s solitude you forget it all

Something that caused a great many a man to fall

Once you’re lost you’ve lost it all

And you carry on trying to forget the wrongs

Searching for what the heart surmises

You realize, you are broken

… and …

You’ll break the big ones

If you break the little promises.

What do you think?
